I completely agree with Sergio Busquets on this one, he feels Atletico Madrid have little grounds for complaint in the wake of their controversial Copa del Rey quarter-final exit, arguing that the referee wronged both teams during Wednesday's fiery second leg.
Do you think so too? Continue for more details and what he said after the cut.
Diego Simeone's men were furious with match official Jesus Gil for refusing to award them a penalty after Jordi Alba seemingly handled the ball inside his own area before starting the attack that eventually led to Neymar earning the visitors a 3-2 victory on the night, and a 4-2 triumph on aggregate.
Gabi was eventually dismissed for remonstrating with the referee at half-time, yet Busquets is adamant that Gil did not play a decisive role in the outcome of the tie, pointing out that Atletico had been incorrectly awarded a spot-kick - converted by Raul Garcia - earlier in the game.
"The [Javier] Mascherano decision was outside the area, so the ref got it wrong for both teams," the midfielder told the official Barcelona website.
"That’s football. Over two legs, it doesn’t come down to one play."
Busquets then went on to praise Neymar, who played a key role in his side's win with two goals.
"Neymar is a player who makes a big difference," the Spain international stated. "That’s football. It’s about imagination, and he’s got lots of that."
Busquets believes his side's third goal effectively ended the tie as a contest and was pleased with Barcelona's performance, before stressing that they will not be taking anything for granted in the next round, with Luis Enrique's men set to face either Villarreal or Getafe in the last four.
"The first half was a nice one for the fans," he added. "I think we played seriously and found the gaps they left behind them, which made it easier to get it back to 2-2.
"When we went 3-2 up, it was always going to be an uphill struggle for them.
"Barca are always candidates for any title they play for. But we’re not underestimating Villarreal or Getafe, whoever will get to the semi-finals. We need to prepare well for those games."
